We have arrived at Xihai Hotel . The hotel address is literally “West Sea Scenic Spot, under Danxia peak.” There is no road to here, just a footpath. And yet it operates basically the way a hotel anywhere else does, as far as I can tell. Kinda crazy.
Arrival at Xihai Hotel
Elevation 1600 m, according to a rock on the very empty, very foggy terrace.
That’s the main entrance to the hotel.
Cheerful sign.
Dad, taking a photo of the lack of view.

Our rooms are in another building on another level, but all the buildings are connected.
This fancy hall is near the expensive a-la-carte restaurant, but we didn’t eat there. We ate at the buffet restaurant. The food was labelled in English (but some of the English was amusing ).
Night view from passage between buildings.
Departure from Xihai Hotel
Day view from passage between buildings. Going to breakfast and checkout.
After breakfast and check-out, we waited a while in the lobby to see if it would stop raining. A member of the hotel staff came and played the qin.
We are back outside! This is the view from the hotel terrace that was completely invisible before.
Same view with zoom. (Siqi’s photo.)

His photos are black-ish whereas mine are blue-ish. Makes you wonder, which one is more like what I saw? Which color is closer to the “actual color” of the scenery? But colors are all just perceptions!
Our building (Building B), and the passageway from the main building to Building B.
I wonder where that path goes?
We can see the cheerful sign and hotel entrance much better now.
Mom is at 1,600 m! That’s about 5,250 feet.
Hotel sign. The characters actually say “Huang Shan Xi Hai Hotel” (the order is different).
Mom and Dad with hotel sign.
Me with hotel sign.
The first of many more porters we saw after we left the hotel.
Time for more stairs!
