Happy Year of the Snake!

The Western zodiac has 12 symbols, one for each month. The Chinese zodiac has 12 animals, each celebrated for a whole year. This year is the year of the snake. I like the idea of the zodiac animals in general, and I like snakes in particular.

Below are a handful of photos of snake products and decorations specially arranged for 2025.

Snaaakesssss

Here’s a shiny red sequin-covered snake decorating a clothing store in Shanghai (in late December).
Hera are some 3D printed snakes I saw for sale in Wuyi, Zhejiang Province during the Chinese New Year holiday. (I bought mine online.)
My workplace, Zhejiang Lab, gave out these posters. The blue character is the lab mascot.
This sequin snake looks familiar, right? Same brand, different location.
This shop is in Xiaoshan District in Hangzhou.
Yeah so… apparently in China, Starbucks is selling Christmas-slash-Chinese-New-Year-themed insulated bottles with snakes on them… a clear victory for syncretism, if you ask me!
Here’s a pretty little snake with a flower.
And another one. (Nice, right?)
