We visited the “old town” retail street in Wuyi for lunch and dinner. See below for photos.
Wuyi Old Town (Day)
After visiting the fluorite museum, we drove to the “old town” street, parked, and found a noodle place to eat lunch. We saw some sort of wedding procession, with a bunch of people wearing traditional costumes, but I didn’t take photos because they would have been photos of the backs of people’s heads. Here are the photos I did take.
One of the entrances to the pedestrianized old town area. For my “manhole covers of the world” collection. It’s February, and yet… this restaurant still has Christmas decorations up.Gelato in China in winter. (Go figure.)Interesting architecture. It’s the year of the snake! I bought a 3D printed snake like these online.
After lunch, we walked around, got rained on, taxied back to our car, and eventually found a guy selling fluorite stuff. I bought a ton of it. We went back to the old town for dinner.
Wuyi Old Town (Night)
A programmable array of LED lights on buildings opposite the old town area.A different gate to the old town.Closer to the old town gate.Interesting architecture. The other entry gate, the one we saw during the day.Street of lanterns! Those are my in-laws.Okay, so, this very traditional wood building had not one, but TWO sets of metal and glass automatic sliding doors. I laughed and laughed! And took a video. There were projectors that made moving light patterns on the ground. They were very shiny because of the rain! A totally unnecessary use of technology, but a cause for unexpected delight.Such a festive atmosphere! Dinner was good, but it’s time to go.
